The genius of technology

A few months ago, some friends meticulously told me about a digital camera they had recently purchased (actually the boyfriend had given it as a birthday gift to his girlfriend; he works at Best Buy). The camera was nice enough; lots of perks: 6 mega pixels, a nice viewer, etc. A Nikon too. My friends had informed me that you could take a picture and email it to someone. I really liked the camera. So much so that I told my step-dad about it. He too got excited. But the cam, for me at least, was a bit pricey. He did some research and found a pretty good deal and ended up buying it! Only thing is/was, the camera was wireless, but did not have the aforementioned email capacity.

Well, fast-forward to several months later and I am in the market for a new digial cam (I currently have an HP model that I can rarely get to focus on my close up shots). Well, one of my students located this! How happy am I? This cam has that email capacity that I soooo need. I am always telling people that I will email a picture, but now, you can snap the picture, get the email address and they will have it sitting in their inbox. Some will say, yeah, I can take pix from my cell phone. Sure, but what about the quality? Not so good, huh? This baby here has 7 mega pixels! You could ask for more clarity, but this is good stuff. I'll do a bit more research, but I think I've found my new BFF!

I don't know if the cam is available yet, but I have my eye on it.

Gas Prices

Hey ... anyone else feeling good about the declining gas prices? I'll take a long and blizzardous winter if only the gas prices remain in this bracket or lower. Heck, I guess if there's too much inclement weather, I won't really benefit from the lower gas prices because I won't be driving much, huh? I'll rethink my position on the winter thing and enjoy the relief on my wallet.

I purchased gas for $1.92 per gallon over the weekend in North Canton, Ohio. :-)

Unresolved!

...some people step right up and get to work on their resolutions. Me, well, I had not planned to let the marinate. But that is what they are doin ... On top of that, I want to add a resolution or two to the list. Seems I failed to recognize that I gave up my teaching position and I will need to find a new gig by August, 2007. I know that I can do that AND I have a back up plan, so maybe that is why I overlooked that particular task. Then again, it is a must-do task and not quite in the resolution category.

My resolve ... in '07

I'm working on a craft project. It's what is called a challenge in the scrapbooking world. But the focus is on what I'd like to do this year. So here is my short list:
  • take at least one snowboarding lesson (I attemped several times in the last two years)
  • learn spanish
  • complete a small 6x6 or 8x8 scrapbook
  • complete 3-4 mini books
  • Travel (by airplane) to at least two cities I have never been to before
  • Run a 5K (at least)
  • Get published in Cards magazine!

I will be updating this because even as I write this, I have forgotten some of the things I want to do this year.

I also failed to give a reflection of '06 ... I'll get around to it, really.
