Music Monday 66 :: Cee-lo Green

MUSIC MONDAY 66 :: Cee-lo Green "F**k You"

Well, this song is NOT radio friendly. I guess they could edit it to say 'eff you'. Whatever. The song is catchy like most of the songs that Cee-lo does. His voice is mesmerizing.

The video is all the lyrics on the screen. Simple.

This track is from his upcoming project "The Ladykiller". It's supposed to drop in October.

NOTES (8.30.10): The radio version says 'Forget You'; the official video is supposed to drop this week or next and "The Ladykiller" seems to have been pushed back to a December release.

Music Monday 65 :: Asher Roth f/Cee-lo "Be By Myself"

MUSIC MONDAY 65 :: Asher Roth f/Cee-lo "Be By Myself"

Today is the day that I admit that I can barely keep up w/the new music that is released. It seems w/the proliferation of the Internet, there's a bangin new joint, what, every other day ...

I could go on. I won't. But that is the set up for today's Music Monday. I did hear this track on Nile FM in Cairo. I stopped what I was doing and I knew that I'd heard Cee-lo's voice. Love those raspy vocals of his. I wondered: 'damn, does he have another track from his upcoming cd out?' He's got "Lady Killer" due out in October. Nah, not this time.

It's Asher Roth getting an assist from Cee-lo on "Be By Myself". Nice job though I could easily have less Asher and more Cee-lo, but if that were the case it'd be Cee-lo f/Asher Roth. I do dig the music on this one. Made my day. The video is not too my liking, but I'll let you be the judge.

Music Monday 64 :: What Up With That?

This video clip is so silly and funny. When I first saw this sketch on Saturday Night Live, I thought it was funny then. Then again, I've been a fan of SNL's silliness for decades. And I like Kenan Thompson too.

Music Monday 63 :: Estelle "Fall In Love"

I've blogged about Estelle before. I do like her style. It's refreshing. At least on the American music landscape where many female singers are just cookie cutters of other washed up, marginally talented singers.

Well, that's not the focus of Music Monday. Just spot lighting music that I like and that I listen to.

This time it's a newbie from Estelle called "Fall In Love". Very nice in terms of lyrics and the range of her voice. She's got two versions: one w/Nas and the other w/John Legend. I like both. Might have been just as good to have them both instead of diff versions.

I think you'll like it too.

Here's the version w/Nas:

Here's the version w/John Legend:

Music Monday 62 :: Neyo "Beautiful Monster"

Welcome to another edition of Music Monday.

Today's focus is on Neyo's "Beautiful Monster". I first heard this several months ago and it just stood out. I love the intro. The beats. The electro sound; and it should be noted that I am not an electro fan.

I'm definitely adding this track to my repertoire of workout music. Obviously the tempo works well for some cardio, right? There are also tons of remixes on this one already.

Here's the vid. I'm not so much a fan of the vid. Seems like he's trying to do too much. And emulating Michael Jackson does not impress me. Just saying.
