MUSIC MONDAY 184 :: Lukas Graham "7 Years"

Music Monday 184 :: Lukas Graham "7 Years"

I saw this song performed live on the Billboard Music Awards yesterday. Love the lyrics and the way he sings the song. The arrangement is strong creating moments of crescendos and decrescendos that are quite natural.

Music Monday 182 :: OK Go's "Upside Down & Inside Out"

Music Monday 182 :: OK Go's "Upside Down & Inside Out"

OK Go has a history of amazing videos. The latest is no different. I was more drawn to the visuals and kinda forgot about the song, which, in my opinion, is just okay.

The video though is all kinds of cool. Find out more about the behind the scenes.

Music Monday 178 :: Saul Williams "Horn Of The Clock-Bike"

Music Monday 178 :: Saul Williams "Horn Of The Clock-Bike"

In my opinion, Saul Williams never disappoints. Even when he goes ... out there, the boundarylessness of his approach to music is enlightening.

And so he does it with both this track and this accompanying video; three and a half minutes of visual, aural and mental stimulation. Enjoy.

Music Monday 177 :: OK Go's "I Won't Let You Down" Video

Music Monday 177 :: OK Go's "I Won't Let You Down" Video

Another example of me not keeping up with the music scene is the fact that this vid was released in the fall of 2014, but I'm just getting around to seeing it.

That does not make it any less impressive though. The song is good, but the choreography is amazing! And whoever shot the video gets bonus points.

Check out OK Go's "I Won't Let You Down" ... and they don't.

Music Monday 172 :: Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" Parody "All About That Baste"

Music Monday 172 :: Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" Parody "All About That Baste"

You are gonna love this video from the family that brought us "Xmas Jammies." Now get to bastin.

Music Monday 171 :: Rollin Wang Rong’s "Chick Chick" Video

Music Monday 171 :: Rollin Wang Rong’s"Chick Chick" Video

This video is all kinds of crazy and there doesn't seem to be any words ... just sounds. You have to see it for yourself. There's definitely a level of ingenuity.

Music Monday 170 :: FKA Twigs "Two Weeks"

Music Monday 170 :: FKA Twigs Performs "Two Weeks" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

Well, this performance was ... not your ordinary late show performance. Pleasantly refreshing.

Music Monday 169 :: Rock The Vote Presents #TURNOUTFORWHAT

Music Monday 169 :: Rock The Vote presents #TURNOUTFORWHAT

This could rank high on the list of all time best public service announcements (PSAs).

It's a crazy cast of well known actors and actresses, some subtle humor and a strong message:

1. Don't mess around and not vote.
2. There are many reasons why you should vote.

Unfortunately, this vid has not gone viral - yet. Let's do this.

New App Discovery :: Adobe Voice

New App Discovery :: Adobe Voice

Actually, I've known about this app since earlier this year when it was first released. However, I just created this short vid for my ohradiogirl Channel on YouTube. Unfortunately, you may never see it there. More on that in a minute.

First, let me say that I created the video using Adobe Voice. It's a free iPad only app and it's super simple to use. Love that.

It took me just a few minutes to bring it all together. They provide themes/templates along with some cool clipart and the music too. You can, however, add your own images and/or music.

But here's where the trouble starts, there are some sharing mechanisms like Facebook and Twitter and obtaining the embed code, but you can't download the video. Group sigh!! And shakes fist.

There are some work arounds for this issue, but they are indeed, 'work' arounds like this one using TechSmith's SnagIt. You'll need the 15 day Snagit free trial for that.

And I'm not the only one to speak up about this. Here's a very thorough review from PCMag giving the app 3 out of 5 stars.

Not sure if Adobe Voice realizes it, but some of us might be willing to pay a nominal in-app purchase in order to have the ability to download or upload to our camera rolls, say via AirDrop.

There have been some updates to the app, so maybe there's still hope for the ability to download the vid or to share directly to YouTube. Also, they have an Adobe Voice YouTube Channel where they seem to be responsive to requests with some of their tutorials. You could also reach out them the via Twitter or through the official Adobe Voice blog.

I'll still play around with the app and hope that some other sharable options are introduced in the near future because Adobe Voice is an ideal tool for storytelling. I may even try to incorporate the app in class.

Give it a try and oh, check out my Adobe Voice vid.

It's not too late to get in shape ... not for summer, but for life!

It's not too late to get in shape ... not for summer, but for life!

It's typical for me to troll YouTube seeking workout videos. My preference is for vids that are short but effective. Sometimes I want to move, but I don't have the energy. Other times, I want high impact.

The FitnessBlender vids are interesting. They're usually short, but you will do either 2 or 3 rounds - or you can just do what you have time to do or what you can do.

The instructions are perfect and of course there's the visual to help offer guidance as well.

This particular vid is great because you have a bit of a pause between each 40-second exercise; and there are eight (8) exercises in the round. It ends up being about 22 minutes in total.

So get movin and give it a try.

Music Monday 166 :: Left Boy "Security Check"

Music Monday 166 :: Left Boy "Security Check"

This video dishes out a little bit of hilarity with an issue all travelers are familiar with: security checks.

Catchy lyrics and a danceable track are paramount with this song and video. Oh, and there's some 'questionable' language.

Music Monday 165 :: Nick Cannon "Looking For A Dream"

Music Monday 165 :: Nick Cannon "Looking for a Dream"

This song is, well, interesting comes to mind. At any rate, I'm more focused on the video, which I sort of like - conceptually. And with a little bit of a remix, there's some hope for the song as well.

Your thoughts?

Music Monday 161 :: Alice Smith's "New Religion: (Live)

Music Monday 161 :: Alice Smith's "New Religion" (LIVE)

After my recent purchase of an iPad Mini, my music library did not transfer smoothly to the new device. It's a bit cumbersome to add your own non-iTunes music to Apple devices - one of my biggest pet peeves about the company.

I say all that to say, one track that somehow weathered the storm is Alice Smith's "New Religion." Her rich and nuanced voice is ultimately relaxing. It's hard to believe that it's been, what, six years since this track was first released.

Check her out on Instagram too.

Here's a live version of "New Religion."  Or check out the original version. Enjoy.

Music Monday 160 :: Liv Warfield's: "Why Do You Lie" from "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"

Music Monday 160 :: Liv Warfield's "Why Do You Lie" from "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"

I saw this performance a few week's ago: fascinating and fabulous.

Liv Warfield has got it. It being: the voice. The persona. The band. The backup singers. This ... is the complete package.

Love this!

For a Quick Aerobic Workout, Try This

For a quick aerobic workout, this this short vid on YouTube.

It's just enough to get warmed up. Even on a lazy day, it might get you motivated to do a bit more. You know, to get you pass that sluggish feeling.

I know that the title says 10 Minute Fitness Routines - Fat Burning Basic Aerobics, but this one is just over 6 minutes. Even more reason to give it a try.

Here's what I like about it:

• As mentioned, it's brief.
• The music is not too high energy, but not the yoga pace either.
• The instructor is not annoying.
• The moves are easy to do.

So what's stopping you now? Let's do this!

Music Monday 158 :: Sara Bareilles "Brave"

Music Monday 158 :: Sara Bareilles "Brave"

Musically, this song is just okay. I do, however, like Sara Bareilles' voice. I also like the theme of the track. But what I like more than anything are the dancers in the video. Awesome.

Music Monday 156 :: Ylvis "The Fox" or "What Does the Fox Say?"

Music Monday 156 :: Ylvis "What Does the Fox Say?"

This viral vid is fun and energetic. Not to mention the content is hilarious. Waiting for the zoo keepers to chime in and tell us exactly 'what does the fox say?'

Oh, and there's a funny story behind the song too. I'll be using this for my Spinning class.

Music Monday 144 :: Salme Dahlstrom's "C'mon Y'All"

Music Monday 144 :: Salme Dahlstrom's "C'mon Y'All"

Love, love, love this song. And you've heard it so many times in so many different commercials and movies.

I thought that it was Macy Gray, but no it's Salme Dahlstrom. The vid below is not an official video, but the vid lists the commercials and movies where you'll find this track. Also, the audio quality on this vid is really good.

Great workout song. Have fun listening.

Music Monday 134 :: Brandi Carlile "That Wasn't Me"

Music Monday 134 :: Brandi Carlile "That Wasn't Me"

This song is all kinds of cool. I initially heard her singing this on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno. One of those moments when I was doing something else and then I heard her hit a note that captured my attention.

Nice. Just a nice and mellow and meaningful track.

Music Monday 133 :: Rihanna "We Found Love" f/Calvin Harris

Music Monday 133 :: Rihanna "We Found Love" f/Calvin Harris

I'm not a huge fan of techno music; I like it in doses. So imagine my surprise when this song "We Found Love" by Rihanna is blaring in my neighborhood. It's seems like it was the only song in the rotation and it played over and over again, oh, and did I say it was loud?

Ok, so the song's not techno, but you get my point.

This video is just trampy ... but whatevs!
