Technology in the Classroom :: Audio

Here's a brief Prezi presentation on Technology in the Classroom.

I teach Radio Production, as well as some other courses that utilize audio. So I've done a bit of an inventory what what resources could work for you if you teach, but you don't have a large budget. Many of the programs that are listed are FREE or low cost.

The presentation content includes information about:
  • audio editing software
  • audio web hosting solutions
  • where to find music and sound effects for audio projects
Let me know if you have questions.

Prezi Presentation: The Pedagogy of Blogging

I use blogging in the classroom. It's a good way to get students to write (and there are tons of other reasons why students, especially journalism students, should be blogging. Note: there are some cons to this platform as well).

I discovered this Prezi on "The Pedagogy of Blogging". Loved it. You'll enjoy it as well.

Working in the Media

Every year at the end of the semester I give a talk the students in all of my classes. The focus is on what it really takes to work in the media industry.
  • I warn them of the low salaries.
  • I tell them that they are bound to work w/difficult people.
  • I tell them that if they work hard, they will be rewarded.
This year I transferred my usual PowerPoint presentation to Prezi. Using Prezi is a good and bad thing. For example, when I was done, I asked if there were any questions and most of them want to know what I used to make the presentation?

Here's my presentation from this year at The American University in Cairo.

Google Search Tricks

I recently discovered Prezi. It's a free tool for creating presentations. I'm proficient with PowerPoint, but Prezi has a different feel to it. More fun and exciting. Prezi definitely has a wow! factor.

I used my first Prezi presentation last week on the topic of "Working with the Media".

I'm more impressed with this Prezi on "Google Search Tricks" by Tony Vincent. Nice presentation and incredibly useful information.

NOTE: give the presentation just a few minutes to load.

Presentation Advice - Audience :: GPS :: Monkey

I was going through some old notebooks and I noticed my scribble that said Audience GPS. So I thought that maybe it was a website. Not quite.

Apparently when I was attending PodCamp Pittsburgh last year, someone must have mentioned this. Only when I went to look it up today, the complete phrase is: Audience, GPS, Monkey.

Love that. I could tell you all about it, but I will only say it's perfect advice for those who often give PowerPoint presentations.

The link will take you to social media veteran Chris Brogan's website where he has a six minute video explaining the concept.

I think you'll like it.
