Lovin the Sunshine

I'm currently living in Pittsburgh. The weather is okay; really, it's just fine. We get all four seasons. But some days I just don't see the sunshine enough.

Well, I was on Spring Break and at the last minute (4 days in advance), I decided to travel to Los Angeles. How cool was that? Nothing but blue skies and sunshine. Total bliss.

However, it was nice to return to The 'Burgh and get a nice dose of sunshine and warm temps too. So much so, that I blew what was supposed to be a rather productive day. I worked out briefly, ran some errands, went rollerblading, then took a nice brisk walk, then did some reading outside and I also got some crafting done. Maybe that's why the sun does not come around more often for me...

Oh, and I did knock off one of my New Year's resolutions: to travel to a city that I have never been to before - no not L.A., but I went to a resort in Palm Desert which is about 90 minutes from L.A. Gorgeous. The picture was taken in Palm Desert. Love that.

GTD - Get Things Done

So I've been merrily working on my to do list. It changes w/frequency, as it should. Here's what I've gotten done in the recent past:
  • package and mail packages and letters
  • return items to the store for a refund
  • wash clothes
  • apply for jobs (don't ask)
  • grade a student's project
  • pick up dry cleaning
  • pick up altered jeans
  • complete an in class assignment for students
  • begin working on the CleveEvents list
  • call ComCast re: establishing a wireless network
  • review answering machine messages and return calls
  • pay bills online
They are just little errands, but these things add up.

But I'd like to introduce you to the Getting Things Done (GTD) system. It's not something that I employ, but I'm doing my research and considering implementing this into my daily planning.

How'd the GTD info get on my radar? Listening to a segment on NPR's "All Things Considered".

Things to do - my to do list

I've had several days off from work, so I've been trying to do a number of things from reading to household chores to learning a new thing or two. Here are some of the items on the list:
  • put flannel sheets on the bed (who want to be cold when sleeping?)
  • online banking (some folks have now been paid)
  • clean up the coffee table (the papers were piling up)
  • pack some packages; and mail them (lots of goodies for my friends)
  • add McAfee to my personal laptop
  • order magazine subscriptions for holiday gifts
  • grade class assignments
  • workout for two 30-minute sessions per day
  • pack for the Thanksgiving trip to Mom's

That's some of what I am up to when I am not online.
